The first snow

I've been spending lots and lots of time in the studio.....
sitting at my little table in front of a big window. I look up occasionally and look into the yard, hoping to see the deer and turkeys that visit daily. Everything outside is so ugly now. The leaves are long gone, the garden beds are a crispy, crunchy brown. I think how pretty it would be if it would just snow. Not a lot of snow, just a dusting.
Then all of a sudden...........snow. Teeny, tiny flakes falling and swirling around. It was just enough snow to cover the ground and rooftops. So pretty and so perfect for my afternoon working away on "Flake" dolls........I even think they smiled too.

Over the river......

and through the woods..........
Hortense is on his way!
This really big ellie, 34", is traveling with Madeline to their new home.
I think I may just hear sleigh bells ringing and a gentleman collector humming......
Fa la la la la.... today as Hortense and Madeline arrive.
I hope all of you are enjoying a great day and making merriment in some fun way.

Dashing through the snow......

With a peck on the cheek and a big hug........Madeline is on her way to her new home. She'll enjoy life and the holidays with a dear gentleman collector.

Sugar and Spice

and everything nice...........
I've been dashing through the house, wrapping and packing and shipping Christmas delights. I still have soooooooo much to do.
Mr. Steiner thinks it's not fair that my holiday baking is consisting of woolen wintry cupcakes.....I think it's not fair that as usual.......all my bears, beasties and dollies are dressed better than me!

Gobble Gobble

Dear Family and Friends-
May your stuffing be tasty,
May your turkey be plump,
May your potatoes and gravy
Have never a lump.
May your yams be delicious
And your pies take the prize,
And may your Thanksgiving dinner
Stay off your thighs!
Happy Thanksgiving to You and Yours-
Heidi

Holiday Party's

Into the wee hours of the night.....a couple nights ago.........
it dawned on me that we have our first holiday party of the season this weekend to attend.
This will be fun........I'm sure the home we are going to will be all decked out in everything Christmas.....Christmas tunes playing and great food to be had.
I always like to take a hostess gift when we go to a friends home......it's fun to take a little gift this time of year.
I don't do the typical..........the bottle of wine.....or a candle ....or other standard types of things.
I like to create something special to give.
Two years ago I made aprons for hostess gifts.....last year I made ornaments using antique scraps and tinsel from my hoarded stash.
Soooooooo.......what to do this holiday season????
I'm making cupcakes! Yep, yummy holiday cupcakes.
Of course these tasty little morsels are created in my studio...........no oven needed. Snowmen cupcakes..........cupcakes with little brush trees..........you know where I'm going with this. The snowman heads are actually vintage spun cotton cupcake picks! How cool is this.
These can be used as pin keepers or just a cute little something to set around the home.
I'm making myself several and will use them as place cards on my dining table.
Below is the first one...........I will gift them in a vintage champagne glass.
I better scoot now and get back to work.
